MISSION & HISTORY

Celebrating America’s Highest Honor for Science and Technology

We’re here to celebrate the amazing individuals who have won the highest science, technology, engineering, and mathematics award in the United States. Their achievements shape cultural revolutions, drive world economies, and change the face of life as we know it. Their stories will inspire the next generation.

AREAS OF IMPACT

Advances in science, technology, engineering, and math influence our world in ways that aren’t always obvious. High-level science is often abstract, but it can help to look at things at a more practical level. These six areas of impact are one way to think about how our lives have been irrevocably changed by the work of the National Medal of Science and National Medal of Technology and Innovation Laureates. You will notice on our timeline that the Laureate circles vary in size. The relative size of the circle indicates how much information is contained on a Laureate's profile page. The largest circles are profiles that have a full biography and assorted media. Our goal is that over time all the Laureate profiles will be filled with media, biographical information, and engaging content.

CELEBRATING THE LAUREATES

National Medals Celebration and Beyond

For years, the National Medals Celebration has brought the Leader of the Free World together with America’s finest in business, science, and technology for all of the world to see. From the establishment of the Medals’ programs to the founding of the NSTMF – industry leaders have continued to work together with the President to celebrate the best of America: innovation, entrepreneurship, creativity, and can-do spirit. The National Medals Celebration is a statement that this country recognizes the United States of America's greatest contributors to science and technology. The NSTMF continues to build out programming that promotes the Laureates and forms personal connections with STEM professionals and the general public. We are always looking for support to celebrate these incredible people and corporations through highly visible programming efforts. Donate now to get involved!
